Sometime around episode 5 this show really took a turn.
“George Wineberg, said you wouldn’t turn up to my wedding if I married a non-Jew? I’ve got a suspicion not only will you be turning up but you’ll be the best man and you’ll be passing me the ring that I slide onto the non-Jewesses finger.”
John Safran’s Race Relations, episode 8; John has a surprise wedding to a Jewish girl who isn’t actually a Jewish girl at all just to prove to his friends and family that they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference therefore it wouldn’t matter who he marries. Also, in an attempt to “un-jew” himself, he gets crucified in the Philippines.
Awkward tension and crying ensue.
